Damian Kindler has been writing and producing television for more than 16 years and now brings his talent and experience to the helm of Sanctuary as Creator, Writer and Executive Producer.
Kindler originally created the pilot script for Sanctuary nine years ago, but put it away for safe keeping when he started writing for the Stargate franchise. Sanctuary’s time came in 2006 when Kindler, along with fellow Stargate colleagues Amanda Tapping and Martin Wood, forged ahead to produce Sanctuary and lead the way into the forum of new media entertainment. Sanctuary was introduced to the public in 2007 as the first broadcast quality series to go direct to the Internet.
As a webisode series, Sanctuary received numerous awards, garnered attention from “TV Guide”, earned a place in the Guinness Book of World Records, and generated excitement from fans around the world who were quick to spread the word. Within the first 6 months of being on the web, Sanctuary received over 3.7 million views and downloads across the Internet.
Always looking ahead to where the series would go next, Kindler and his team captured the interest of broadcasters. Less than a year after the 8 short format webisodes premiered, Sanctuary was in full production again - this time with broadcast licenses for a full season of episodes that will bring the series to television across North America and Europe this fall.
Prior to Sanctuary, Kindler was Co-Executive Producer and Writer for Stargate SG-1 and Creative Consultant and Writer for Stargate Atlantis, two of the most popular science fiction TV series worldwide.
In addition to Stargate, Damian has written for many television series including PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal, Relic Hunter, The Immortal, Earth Final Conflict, F/X: The Series, and Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.
Kindler was nominated for three Leo Awards in 2004 and 2005 for excellence in TV writing and producing by the British Columbia Film and Television Association.
